Women Leading Women: The Best Side of Greek Life

When someone says Greek Life, what do people immediately think of? Crazy parties, hazing, rich kids, alcohol, obnoxious Instagram posts. Now, what if I told you there is a whole other side to the Greek System? A side that supports young men and women who are looking for a community that will celebrate their individuality and allow them to become leaders on campus through philanthropy and service.

This is why I went Greek. Yes, I wanted to be showered with glitter after running home on Bid Day while throwing what I knew for the whole world to see. Yes, I was excited to post pictures of me and my big having the craziest adventures. But I didn’t go Greek because I wanted to be Instagram famous on campus or be the queen of the party scene. I went Greek because I wanted to join a group of leading women on campus that would help me become the best version of myself. I wanted to be with a group of girls that would support me in wanting to make a difference in the world. And that is exactly what I found.

Without my sorority, I wouldn’t have a place to call home on campus. I wouldn’t have a group of girls that have loved me unconditionally from day one and that will be there for me the rest of my life. Joining a sorority has been one of the best decisions I have made since starting college. I have gained so much confidence in the short time I have been a part of Greek Life. Seeing the leadership of the young women in the pledge classes before me has inspired me to set goals for myself over the next 3 years. I believe that every young woman who aspires to be a leader and catalyst for change in our world should be given the chance to and a sorority will help her achieve those goals.

I am already beyond thankful for everything that Theta has given me over the last few months. My journey as a Greek woman has just begun and I cannot wait to see where I end up. TLAM!
