College besties are the best type of besties because they live in really cool cities across the country and you get to go visit them. While I wish I could have gone on a RV tour of the US this summer so I could have seen all my besties and sistas around the country, I only had time to make one quick trip: Atlanta, Georgia.
ATL: the land of Chick-fil-A, peaches, Coca-Cola and home to some of my all time favorite people. I was #blessed to stay with one of the sweetest families I have ever known; shoutout to the Longs and their cats for showing me some real Southern hospitality. I showed up in baggage claim and we picked up exactly where we left off in May: laughing and hugging.
Here are some highlights from my days as a real life Georgia Peach:
- 10/10 would recommend eating Thai food at Marietta Square. Like y’all Asian food is not usually my jam but Thaicoon, ooh baby.
- Downtown Woodstock is as cute as it sounds. Lots of shops, good little burger joint and a bakery that literally smells like a cavity.
- This is going to sound so basic Southern girl of me, but y’all Waffle House is like now on my list of late night food places. Granted I went for the first time EVER for breakfast this trip, but like I will be back. Dear city of Oxford, please get a Waffle House please and thank you.
- The Georgia Aquarium has some serious big dolphin energy; be sure to go to the dolphin show, it is free, and pretty cool. You can touch starfish and sea urchins, and if you are lucky (which we were not) stingrays.
- I am definitely still a Dr. Pepper girl, but the World of Coca-Cola is super fun. Drinking Beverly was the highlight of the whole tour, make sure you get a taste next time you are there.
- BONUS: I met my best friend’s bestie (Hi David 😊)
I will definitely be making many more trips to Hotlanta (1) because I love the people and (2) because I have a couple things I still need to check off my list (you already know I am talking about finding the Fab Five loft). One last big thank you to the Longs and all of ATL for all the mems, see you soon🍑
