Flashing neon lights, a bumping bass, sweaty frat boys, what more could a college girl want.
The nightlife is not the life I usually live, I had plans to binge-watch Friday Night Lights that night. Next thing I know I am standing in The Levee with a group of girls I just met, twenty less dollars in my wallet and a big, black X on my hand. If my friends back home could see me now they would say, “Who are you and what have you done with Connor Neill?”
Being the sheltered girl that I am, I was utterly confused as to what a group of underage girls would do at a bar all night. The entire place and everyone in it reeked of alcohol and cigarette smoke. Everywhere you went you were bumping into sweaty, drunk people. It was so loud that you felt like you were yelling at everyone just to have a simple conversation. The most used phrase of the night was, “Add me on Snapchat”.
You might be thinking, “This is when Connor called an Uber and went back to her safe, quiet dorm”. Surprise, I stayed until the bar closed. I had the time of my life. I got to be Tyler’s “girl” for the night and received the honor of wearing his sweaty bucket hat so that I could transform into the perfect frat boy. I danced like no one was watching and sang along to songs I didn’t know. If it wasn’t for The Levee, I might not have my best friends.
The ultimate Ole Miss bonding experience is piling way too many people into someone’s car (picture 8 girls and 2 guys in a car that seats 5) and driving to Cook Out after a night on the Square. For those of you who don’t know what Cook Out is, it is this magical oasis that is open until 3 AM that fulfills every fried food craving you might have. 10/10 would recommend hushpuppies and an Oreo shake, hits the spot every time.
So a girl walks into a college bar scared beyond belief with girls who were practically strangers, and walks out with her new best friends and the confidence to come back next weekend.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE ONE YET! Happy we both never went out before that night! I love you 🙂
